Sebastian Bours
Sebastián Bours, born in Sonora, Mexico in 1993, is a painter whose work resonates with the exploration of reality and identity. Currently residing in Monterrey, Bours has made this vibrant city his artistic home, where he continues to expand and refine his unique style.
From the age of 10, Bours showed a deep interest in oil painting, a medium he has mastered over the years. This early start in art led him to study architecture in Monterrey, Mexico, a career he successfully completed, which influenced his spatial and structural perception of painting. He established his studio in Monterrey, where his training as an architect and his passion for painting merged, creating a solid foundation for his artistic career.
Vision and themes
Sebastián Bours' work is a constant introspection into social norms and established paradigms in northern Mexico, particularly regarding concepts of beauty, identity, and sexuality. Using the human figure and symbols laden with meaning, Bours tells stories that challenge and question conventional perceptions of these themes.
